Change is the New
“Normal”
We live in a world
that is more unpredictable and ever-changing than at any
time before. Not only is change a constant in our
lives, but the rate of change is constantly
accelerating. Combined with our own individual needs to
find a more self-reliant and deeply rooted life, we are
facing and embracing change in profoundly new ways.
But in making
change, large or small, we need more than just
knowledge. For example, we all know how to lose weight
– eat healthier food in less quantity and exercise more
– but few of us are able to achieve permanent weight
loss. Why? Because we need more than “knowing how.”
We need inspiration, motivation, support, and focus.
As
betweentrapezes.com grows, we will be creating ways for
you to get all those things right here in a powerful and
personalized way, along with ways to find and build a
community to help you on your journey. And even embrace
and seek out change on a daily basis.
Whether the change
you seek is a new job, a new relationship, weight loss,
quitting smoking, improving your marriage, “coming out,”
embracing a new spiritual path, or whatever your
“wildest dream” may be, there are six fundamental steps
you can take to lead you along your path.
Before we start,
take a moment to consider this: regardless of what
others may think, say, or do, this is your life.
And you get to decide how it goes.
There is no way it is.
There’s only the way you say it is.
The Universe hasn’t made up its
mind about you.
It only knows what you show it
today.
You are the Inventor.
Your life is the Invention.
You get to make it up.
So make it up good.
Exercises
In each section,
there are exercises to help you use and build on the
ideas presented in the Step. As your main personal
resource, use a notebook to do the
exercises, which will also become your journal and guide
along the way. In addition, you can build you
network of catchers and find help from the community by
also posting your work in the
Between Trapezes Forum.
Write out the
exercises as you do them, and re-read them often. But
also use the notebook as a place to jot down other
relevant thoughts and observations. If you hear a
quote, or read a sentence somewhere that strikes you,
write it down. If you read a newspaper article that
touches you, cut it out and paste it into your
notebook. This way, the exercises combine with what you
have gathered to paint a picture of who you are and
where you are going.
And be sure to visit
the
Forum to get in touch with others in the Between
Trapezes community and to find inspiration and guidance
for your own journey.
And now we'll take
the first step: Step 1. Let’s get started...
